Capital of the Republic of China (commonly known as Taiwan), huge Taipei is surrounded by mountains. Taipei 101, once the world’s tallest building, dominates its skyline from Xinyi, an area known for the most active nightlife.
At Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall the national flag is raised every morning and the guard changed every hour. Less known for tourists is National Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, containing a tall bronze statue of the country’s founding father.
Taipei has tons of museums, but the best are Shung Ye Museum of Formosan Aborigines and the National Palace Museum – one of world’s largest collections of Chinese artifacts. Even more numerous are the temples dedicated to Buddhist, Taoist and Chinese folk religions. Xinsheng South Road is nicknamed "Road to Heaven" for its sheer number, but most famous is Longshan Temple in Wanhua, the oldest district.
Taipei shopping is fantastic and includes Core Pacific Living Mall, supposedly Asia’s largest. The Ximending area has lots of shops (and karaoke), while the Shilin Night Market should not be missed. For a break from the bustle head to central Daan Forest Park, the botanical gardens with its lotus ponds,or Yangmingshan National Park, known for hot spring baths and spring cherry blossom.
Whether you fly into Songshan or Taiwan Taoyuan Airport, the well connected public transportation system can take you to any Taipei hotel on Booking.com.

Although the city got cleaned up and modernized a lot, it still has the magic it had around the millenium. It;s a bit like Tokyo and Seoul but Taipei has that perfect vibe of hard work, fun and tollerance that you cannot find elsewhere...

First visit and love love love Taipei. Friendly locals - got lost in a lane and a guy asked me to follow him to the main road. Even my rubbish Mandarin got me through as most people had pretty good English. Clean, safe and nice vibes!

Stayed 8 nights in Taipei did not travel out due to the earthquake situation. Taipei's Night Markets are over rated. I have been to 6 different Night Market they practically sell the same kind of food and not necessary as tasty as some of the You Tubers would like you to believed. There are better tasting stores than others but nothing really to scream about. But I loved their Pineapple super sweet eat it everyday . It is fairly easy to travel around the city in public transport.. I have been to Yehliu, Houtong, Yangmingshan National Park.,Jiufen ,Shifen Waterfall and Pingxi Sky Lantern. Fisherman Wharf and Keelung for seafood. Really wanted to experience Taiwan's unique Night Market Culture but was very disappointed.

MRT and high-speed railway are very developed in this city. The cost is cheap and you can go to almost every destination.
People are friendly and willing to help.
City roads and stations are cleaned.
Only food, perhaps it's not suitable for someone like the healthy style because a majority of them are oily.

Several times during my short stay people went well out of their way to help me. One on occasion, an older lady who was getting her hair done in the salon where I got a hair cut left her chair walked me down the steps of the shop and out into the street and about 20 yards to an intersection to ensure I did not get lost and found my destination. Taipei Taiwanese during the days I spent there seemed to be a fine people, their city clean and safer than many US large cities. I don't think they will like mainland China coming in and taking over. I visited a couple of great temples and had great suppers.
The hotel is just a short walk away from Taipei Main Station, which wins massive points from me. The room was surprisingly big for a budget accomadation, which was a pleasant surprise. The toilet seat has advanced features like a bidet and a heated seat, and the vinyl flooring means it's likely cleaner than a room with carpeted flooring. Plus there's a good number of shopping, food options, and convenience stores around the area, including a McDonalds right downstairs!
got a superior double room for 3 nights, we have 2 x 28" luggage and one 20". quite congested bcs the room is small but i would say this is worth the money im paying considering it is located near taipei main station (exit M3 cosmos hotel) for those who have their schedule full and only plan to stay in the hotel for night rest this is good. most hostel have no lift but they have it and bonus point is spacious toilet. glad i decided to stay here compared to ximen area.
The historic Grand Hotel is a cultural landmark, and our suite did not disappoint in any way. It is a beautiful hotel and appointed in high style, from the extensive breakfast buffet to the hilltop grounds. Of all our interactions with staff, the most impressive were the Concierge staff, who were unfailingly courteous and knowledgeable and gracious in helping us to resolve a variety of travel issues. It’s a lovely post from which to explore Taipei!
We had the room on the top floor facing the Da'an Park, the view was amazing, and it had a king size bed plus a soaker tub. It's very close to the Da'an Forest Park MRT Exit #6, and a 7-Eleven. The hotel has an afternoon tea hour where you can have some snacks, so that's nice. There's free laundry facility - though basic but it did the job. The location is also close to many shops, restaurants and cafes.
I was very comfortable here. The atmosphere is very good with a downstairs area with a kitchen and washer machine. The location was very good and the staff was super nice. Especially the guy named Shoo, he gave us many recommendations and was very helpful. This was the cheapest hotel I could find and for the price it was amazing value. It felt clean and I felt at home.
The staff of the hotel is super friendly. So no bad experience there.
The location is also fine; it's in the older area of Taipei, close to the MRT and there are a lot of restaurants and coffee bars within walking distance.
Note that cleaning of the room is done any other day and not daily (not an issue as at home I also do not daily change my bedding).
The room size is pretty good. There is a space for luggage. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The air conditioner was good but the it couldn’t be adjusted. 😂 The location is great! It’s near Ximending walking street and Taipei Main Station. They cleaned the room and made out beds every days. I love this hotel! Highly recommended :)
This was a really relaxing hotel to stay in for a getaway trip to Yangmingshan 陽明山. The hotel is located right across the street from a bus that will take you directly to the main bus station at Yangmingshan 陽明山, so you can take another bus to the National Park. I also appreciated that breakfast was included.
One of the few possibilties in Taipei to have a room with a balcony. The hotel feels like home, it's a wonderful place to calm down after a buzy day in the city. The rooftop of the hotel is great. Massage chairs are a nice extra. The breakfast was wonderful, a wide variety of choice for anyone's taste.
Fantastic location - Walkable distance to Taipei Main Station; Has a major bus stop right outside the hotel; Super close to Ximending. Budget-friendly rooms (small but has all you need and it's kept pretty clean esp the toilet). Easy check-in and out process. Will definitely stay here again next time!
everything is so great and perfect , the location is superb ! very near to MRT station and the huashan park opposite is sooooo fun ! we even got to book the delivery of famous soybean breakfast by hotel ( with charges ) we enjoyed the stay a lot ! thank you Wallsun , will definitely come back again!
Hotel was wonderful, centrally located. Staff were professional, friendly and hospitable. The room was spacious with a standing bathtub and over extra wide bed! Separate shower from the toilet room. We had such a pleasant stay we came back our last night before coming home.
A convenient location, easily walkable from Taipei Main Station MTR station (the hotel and station are both easy to find on Google maps).
Rooms seem to be soundproofed so there was almost no street noise, despite being on a low floor.
Toilet seats were installed with bidet-seat warmers. Hotel staff gave great service, and cleaning was always done promptly and well. Location wise, it’s near a few bus stops - so we weren’t too challenged when touring Taipei.
We chose this hotel because it's close to a park and conveniently located with the subway and night markets. Quiet location but the busy part of town is close. A big room with a huge bathroom with a jacuzzi tub.
1.BOOKING DOES NOT PROVIDE BREAKFAST,BUT HOTEL EAST TAIPEI PROVIDE IT FREE.(GOOD)
2.PARKING FEE FOR 2DAYS IS ABOUT 1000, HOTEL EAST TAIPEI PAID IT.(VERY GOOD)
3.THE BED IS VERY COMFORTABLE.
The room was quite spacious and very clean, the beds were amazing, the reception ladies were incredibly nice to us, and the hotel is located right next to Daan Park metro station.
My ultimate favourite hotel to stay every visit to Taipei. Already familiar with the surroundings and the staff are always friendly. Make me feel so homely.
